deco arts expo: henry miller young artists today

I do not know much about Henry Miller. To tell you the truth, I did read a book, just started the second, got bored quickly (but it is often the case when I read one after the other two novels of same author, I lose the taste for discovery of a style). And yet, not knowing almost nothing about who is best known as a writer, I wanted to see his side missed a painter.

watercolors and lithographs exposed to dorothy's gallery are imbued with a sweet naivete, a certain innocence, as if the painting was the work of the child remained nestled in the back of Miller. The author talks about travel, love, life, vibrant colors that illuminate his paintings recall Klee, Gauguin, Chagall, Kandinsky and a bit. Henry Miller said of his own work as "the devil in writing, but painted the angel." Probably.
Around Miller, three contemporary artists. Talking rapidly from Arnaud Prinstet , French painting a self portrait every day for 10 years. I fear that his paintings on display to dorothy's gallery are not the most interesting part of his work, since I have seen on his website he used techniques other than simple brush strokes (including dripping). Unfortunately, even if they open the way for réflexionsur image and identity, self-portraits on display here are actually quite flat, unlike the digital sublime portrait of Marilyn directed by Jean-Robert Franco .

Franco uses superimposed images to superimpose old and new emotions, and it works pretty well. The sensation is quite indescribable go ahead and make up your own mind (that's the tip!).
The last artist Soon-Young Lee is also a photographer and sculptor as well. His work for the Living Room series begins with the creation of interiors colorful, teeming with life, signs of activity, like so many perfect dollhouse. Except that these interiors are owned by nature. The singularly chaotic harmony between nature and artifacts, photographs shown on huge, frightening, leaving the hope that nature takes its course in the human world. A bit like a sweet dream ...

Give me some hope
Give me a bit heaven
Give me some love
Three to Miller summarizing well the imprint left by the show.
